Description

Tifgreen 328 is a hybrid Bermuda grass known for its very fine texture and bright green color, originally developed for golf course greens. This makes it an excellent choice for homeowners in Phoenix who desire a highly manicured lawn. Tifgreen 328 offers a luxurious look with its dense growth and fine blades, but it requires more maintenance than some other Bermuda varieties. It has fair drought tolerance, meaning it may need more frequent watering during Phoenix’s hot summers compared to more drought-resistant types like TifTuf. Its damage recovery is fair, so it’s best suited for lawns with moderate traffic. Like other Bermuda grasses, Tifgreen 328 has poor shade tolerance and thrives best in full sun. For optimal appearance, it should be mowed at heights between 1/4″ and 3/4″ using a reel mower, which can be more labor-intensive but results in a superior finish. Tifgreen 328 is ideal for those willing to invest in maintenance for a premium lawn aesthetic.

Turf grass is a perishable product. It does have to be Installed the same day it is delivered. If the turf grass goes bad you will still be charged for it. The turf grass will have to be reordered & you will be responsible for this payment too.

Watering & Maintenance

Watering

  • Initial (First 2 Weeks): Water daily to keep sod moist.
  • Summer (May–Sep): Water 2–3 times/week, delivering 1–1.25 inches total, as fair drought tolerance requires consistent moisture.
  • Spring/Fall (Mar–Apr, Oct): Water 1–2 times/week, providing 0.75–1 inch total.
  • Winter (Nov–Feb): Water every 10–14 days during dormancy if needed.
  • Note: Water early morning or late evening per City of Phoenix guidelines.

Fertilizing

  • Before Installation: Apply 16-20-0 or 15-15-15 fertilizer.
  • Spring (Mar–Apr): Apply high-nitrogen fertilizer for green-up.
  • Summer (May–Aug): Fertilize every 45–60 days with balanced fertilizer.
  • Fall (Sep–Oct): Apply final fertilization.
  • Winter (Nov–Feb): No fertilization during dormancy.
  • Total Nitrogen: 3–4 lbs/500 sq ft annually.
  • Note: Test soil to adjust for alkaline conditions.
